"A not-for-profit event"

* When is this year's prom?

The 2009 Florida Homeschool Prom will be on Friday, May 29, 2009 (7:30pm-11:30pm).

* Where will this year's prom be located?

The host location for the 2009 Florida Homeschool Prom will be the luxurious and world
re-nowned Diplomat Golf Resort & Spa in
Hallandale Beach, Florida (Broward County).
For detailed information about the Diplomat Golf Resort & Spa, please

*  What is the cost for this year's prom?

    T
he discounted price to attend the 2009 Florida Homeschool Prom is $85.00 per
ticket.  This discounted price is guaranteed through February 28, 2009, but sometime after
this date there will be a $10.00 increase in the price of a prom ticket.  You can purchase
tickets at the discounted price of $85.00 for as long as this price is advertised on our web
site.  You can register for this year's prom either by mail or on-line by
Clicking Here.

*  Based on the venue and all the amenities provided to the attendees and their guests,
how can the Florida Homeschool Prom be so inexpensive compared to other proms?

As you may imagine, there are so many costs involved in hosting a quality and
memorable prom.  Time and time again the organizers of the Florida Homeschool Prom
hear about some public and private school proms that cost anywhere from $120-$150 to
attend - and sometimes even more.

We are very pleased to announce the discounted price (see above) to attend the 2009
Florida Homeschool Prom is $85.00, which is less than the cost to attend last year's
2008 Florida Homeschool Prom.  One of the main reasons for this cost-effective price is
due to the dedication of the teen members of the Florida Homeschool Prom Committee,
who work very hard throughout the year to raise money through various fundraisers.
Also, we rely on the generosity of companies and individuals who provide  sponsorships
to the Florida Homeschool Prom

If it was not for the commitment of the teen members of the prom committee and the
generous sponsorships of others, the Florida Homeschool Prom would cost much more to
attend.  We thank everyone for their support and dedication in allowing the attendees of
the 2009 Florida Homeschool Prom to be able to experience a night they will always cherish
and remember.  To learn more on how you can help support this year's prom, please

*  What is provided to those attending prom?

The 2009 Florida Homeschool Prom will include the following amenities, and more,
for the attendees of this year's event:

~ Reception hour with Hors D’ouevres, Crudites, and Non-Alcoholic Frozen Drinks

~ Open Soda & Juice Bar During the Entire Evening

~ Formal Butler-Served Dinner & White Glove Service

~ Keepsakes, DJ, Entertainment, Dancing & Music

~ Annual Florida Homeschool Prom King & Queen and Royal Court Contest
       ($5.00 extra per participant.)

    ~ Tribute to Graduating Seniors
       ($10.00 extra per participant.)

*  Who can attend the prom?

The Florida Homeschool Prom is open to anyone age 14 years or older who is either a
homeschool student, a virtual school student or a homeschool alumni.  These individuals
are referred to as "Attendees"
and must adhere to all policies of the Florida Homeschool
Prom.

*  Can someone who is not a homeschool student, a virtual school student or a
homeschool alumni attend prom?

Yes, but only as long as he or she is at least 14 years of age and  accompanies either a
homeschooled student, a virtual schooled student, or a homeschool alumni.  These
individuals are referred to as "Guests" and must adhere to all policies of the Florida
Homeschool Prom.

*  What do you mean by a homeschool student?

There are many definitions and descriptions of a homeschool student.  For the
purpose of the Florida Homeschool Prom the coordinators define a homeschool
student as someone whose education is overseen at the parents discretion; whether
it be by means of "conventional" home education (there are MANY modalities),
virtual school, or non brick-and-mortar private school.

* Does one need to be a member of any particular homeschool group or organization
to attend prom?

Absolutely not!  The 2009 Florida Homeschool Prom is open to ALL homeschool
students, virtual school students and homeschool alumni, no matter what group or
school they are associated with, as long as they are age 14 years or older.

*  How can I get a FREE ticket?

Any individual, company or organization donating a minimum $200 monetary
sponsorship to the Florida Homeschool Prom will receive one FREE prom ticket,
which can be used by any "Attendee" or "Guest" as previously defined.  Please
Click Details
page for more details.

*  Is the Florida Homeschool Prom a formal event?

Most definitely.  There is a detailed Dress Code, which all attendees MUST adhere
to, but the quick description is gowns or dresses for girls and suit or tux for the boys.
Also, we want everyone to be comfortable in their attire, but modest dress is required.
Please see the Dress Code for specific details.

*  Is a meal provided during prom?

Yes. Depending on the venue, there is either a formal sit-down dinner or gourmet
buffet-style dinner included in the cost to attend the Florida Homeschool Prom.

*  What kind of music is played during prom?

All kinds of music... including Christian, Pop, Country, Classic, Swing, Line, Golden
Oldies, and other genres.  Music suggestions can be submitted for consideration and
the Prom Committee approves the final music list.  All music is considered will be
reviewed for appropriate lyrics and whether it is danceable.

*  How long have the organizers of the Florida Homeschool Prom been coordinating
proms for homeschoolers and their friends?

The founders of the Florida Homeschool Prom have been involved in coordinating
and hosting proms for homeschoolers and their friends for over ten years.

*  Are there adult chaperones at the prom?

The Florida Homeschool Prom has a required ratio of adult chaperones-to-attendees
based on the final number of students attending the prom.  Chaperones are selected from
among the adult volunteers and sponsors of the Florida Homeschool Prom.  We also ask
that chaperones cover the cost of their dinner.

*  What about limousines?

Each year students make their own arrangements to arrive at prom in limos, their own
vehicles, or are dropped by a family member.  Also, attendees are responsible for any
parking fees charged by the host location of the prom.  If there are any fees for parking
we will post this on-line as soon as it is available.

*  Can parents attend the prom?

This is a night for the students so we do not encourage parents who are not volunteers
or chaperones to attend the prom, but they are not forbidden.  If a parent prefers they be
able to attend the prom they do need to pay just as all other attendees.  Also, an area is
set up for the parents which may or may not be in the same area as where the prom takes
place.

*  Do most students come alone or with someone else?

The purpose of the night is to have fun.  Teens arrive at prom alone, with an escort,
with a brother or sister, and in groups.  Also, between the chatting at the dinner table
and the fun out on the dance floor all students are sure to go home after making at least
one new friend.

*  Can I reserve a table so my friends and I can sit together?

Yes.  You can reserve an entire table (10 chairs) for $40 or half a table (5 chairs) for
$25. These fees are in addition to the cost of attending prom.  It is not necessary to reserve
a table, but many attendees enjoy making their prom night extra special by being able to
dine with their friends.

Also, chairs are not to be moved from one table to another.

*  Our family is traveling from out of town so our teen child can attend prom.  Do you
know of a good hotel we can stay at?

We have arrangements with both the host location of the 2009 Florida Homeschool
Prom and another hotel located less than 1 minute away.  Click Here for details.

*  What is your policy on drugs and alcohol?

The Florida Homeschool Prom has a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY when it comes
to this matter.  Anyone suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or any drug
will immediately be removed the prom area, their parents will be contacted, and their
money is not refunded.  We also want to thank everyone who has attended prom over
the years for keeping this matter at a zero (0%) incident rate.

Also, cigarette smoking is not allowed and no one can bring any drinks of any kind,
including water, soda, power drinks, etc., to prom.
